Now that the extradition of Nigeria’s most celebrated alleged Internet fraudsters, Hushpuppi and Woodberry is no longer a rumour, there is major takeout from one of the biggest ‘Yahoo boys’ takedown in history.

It was a coordinated sting and clampdown by the FBI, Interpol on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice on the Hushpuppi plus Woodberry alleged Internet fraud gang. From the way and manner Dubai Police carried out the raid without any slip, it is clear the plan was well thought out.

All Eyes on ‘Hush’
They have been watching Hushpuppi for a long time. Unknowingly to Hushpuppi and his friend, Woodberry, their lavish and extravagant lifestyles made them the cynosure of all eyes for firstly, the Dubai Police and more importantly, the U.S. Department of Justice who took their time to watch, gather all the evidence against them, then strike at the most appropriate time.
The Emiratis Don’t Love Dirty Money
Hushpuppi was could have been deceived by many myths about the culture of the Emiratis on ill-gained wealth. For many people who are sucked into this mindset, there is a common worldview that Emirati Arabs do not care where you get your money or what you did to get the money so far as you spend it in their country. Apparently this is a fallacy and it is clear they are just waiting for the right time and more importantly if your crime will get them embarrassed before their bigger allies such as the U.S., you are a ‘toast’.
He was Never Coming Back to Nigeria
It is clear that he was already aware that he was heavily wanted in Nigeria. Apart from the fact that people who have knowledge about his alleged Internet fraud exploits said many Nigerian convicted fraudsters were linked to him, Hushpuppi has put the Nigerian government and people through a huge disgrace and embarrassment before the whole world. The EFCC must have pout an alarm on his head to be picked up at any airport in Nigeria once he lands in the country.

This is Not the End
There have been many insinuations that Hushpuppi is perhaps the leader of all Nigerian Internet fraudsters. This is very far from the truth. As a matter of fact, he is not the bigger picture, he is part of the bigger pie. If you remember how soon enough Obinwanne Okeke also known as Invictus Obi that led to the arrest of over 80 Nigerian alleged Internet fraudsters in the U.S. and many other arrests that continues to unravel. One thing is clear, his arrest and that of Woodberry would unearth many other big names, most especiallylly, people who are least expected.
It is a season film and many other seasons are yet to be filmed.
