Let’s be fair with Points Per Game system – Lobi Stars’ Mike Idoko

General Manager of Lobi Stars, Mike Idoko has condemned the Points Per Game (PPG) voting system adopted by the League Management Company in conjunction with Club Owners Association to decide how to end the current Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Idoko’s Lobi Stars were third on the NPFL log before the season was called off earlier in March due to coronavirus pandemic.

Seventeen club chairmen had voted on Sunday to end the current league season using Points Per Game System.

“If you want to make a decision based on PPG, let us do something that will be fair to everybody” – Idoko said while speaking with Sports This Morning crew on Channels Television.

“PPG is new to us because we are toeing the line of the English Premier League, and of course the Spanish League lately. How can you give out points? If you Check other countries that are using PPG, like the French league, it caused challenges and they even went to court. they all played equal games. It is not that you come together to award points to some teams. Let the right thing be done so, no one will be accused of getting free points.”

“Let us do it correctly. We should go back to the week when all teams must have played equal matches, check between week 10 or the week when all the teams must have played equal matches.”

“During the time we represented the country on the continent there was no PPG, this is alien to us.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation issued a statement that consultation was still ongoing as to the format and pattern of foreclosing the 2019/2020 football season, including that of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
