Osun state police is testing food samples eaten by late FUOYE student, boyfriend in custody

The Osun State Police Command said they have arrested the boyfriend of the late female student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) who died after eating rice at her boyfriend’s house.

In a statement cited by Punch, the Police/Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola, said both Ayo and Adekemi were in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Osogbo.

The spokesperson also said samples of the last meal taken by the deceased had been sent for testing.

“Samples of the rice meal that the deceased allegedly ate with her friend have been sent for testing. We are investigating the food and its source,” she said.

It would be recalled that a 21-year-old student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State have died in her boyfriend’s house shortly after eating rice.

The deceased identified as Faderera Oloyede died on Tuesday 16th June, in her boyfriend’s apartment in Iree, Osun State.

It was reported that Faderera and her friend Adekemi Adewumi arrived at her boyfriend, Ayo Maliki’s apartment in Iree on Monday June 15th and slept over.

Faderera was said to have died on Tuesday afternoon shortly after eating rice which was provided by her boyfriend, Ayo Maliki.

The boyfriend of the deceased, Ayo was said to be on the run, while Adeyemi who is a friend to the deceased has been arrested by the police.
