Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo has opened up on how elated he was when he got his first €10,000 from Olympic Marseille.
Taiwo who last played for Finish side RoPS Rovaniemi dawned the colours of Marseille between 2005 and 2011.
The former Lobi defender revealed that he just moved to France on trials with Marseille and needed to return to Nigeria after his trials.
“Salah break was in a couple of days and I had no money on me to return to Nigeria with, – Taiwo said in a chat with Eaglestracker on Instagram.
“The President told me not to worry that someone will give me money when I get to Paris, I said okay.
“I got the 10,000 Euros, and I was wowed, I didn’t not believe my eyes. Every time I went to the convenience, I checked my cross-bag if the money was still intact. I was excited because it meant a lot to me.”
Taiwo made 53 appearances for the Super Eagles netting five times. He commended the current Super Eagles squad stating that the team is composed of young talented player who are quick and enjoying their times at various clubs.
