Max, one of the major competitors of OPay’s ORide has just launched its own tricycle service called MaxKeke.
According to a person with the knowledge of the matter, the service could begin operations anytime soon but there are no details on the cities it will take start with.
The decision to start MaxKeke is coming a few weeks after Opera Limited’s OPay announced that it has started its motorcycle called ORide and its tricycle service called OTrike across Kano (Northern Nigeria), Aba (Eastern Nigeria) and Ilorin (North Central Nigeria).
With the aim of reducing hours spent by Lagosians in traffic, the startup which started as a motorcycle taxi was founded by Adetayo Bamiduro and Chinedu Azodoh.
While there is no information on how much the company has raised to scale its operation within outside Lagos, it would be interesting to see how it plans to compete with OTrike/ORide with a recent raising of about $50 million from Opera Limited (its parent company) and other new and existing investors.
