There are unverified reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have just raided the personal home of the former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Former governor Ambode resides in his home town in Epe Local Government Area of the state.

We cannot verify the authenticity of the information. However, earlier this month, the EFCC confirmed in a press release that its operatives seized several bank accounts linked to the former governor.

According to a report by Punch, Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday ordered the freezing of the sum of N9.9bn belonging to the Lagos State Government.

The funds are domiciled variously in First City Monument Bank account number 5617984012; Access Bank account number 0060949275; and Zenith Bank account number 1011691254, respectively.

Justice Chuka Obiozor gave the order, following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The governor had replied in a statement by his media aide that the governor has no connection with the accounts.

However, the EFCC has not made a public statement on the raid.
