Norwegian Air now accepts Bitcoin


The cryptocurrency community has just gotten one of its most positive news today as Norwegian Air said it will start accepting Bitcoin.

Norwegian Air said it will start Bitcoin payments via the cryptocurrency exchange established by Bjørn Kjos and his family.

Kjos is the CEO of Norwegian and the largest shareholder at the airline.

Bjørn Kjos’ family has recently set up an exchange. According to a CoinDesk report which cited a local newspaper called, Dagens Naeringsliv (DN), said the exchange which is called Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) will open for business by August.

Apparently, Kjos’ son will be the one running the exchange. According to DN, Lars Ola Kjos was said to have become a bitcoin investor, having bought NOK 3.5 million ($404,000) worth of the cryptocurrency in 2017. He was reported to have made the investment at the time, bitcoin prices were far below their current levels of $10,000.

The local newspaper said it plans to expand to several other countries in the region after which by autumn, the Norwegian Air Shuttle customers will be able to pay for tickets with cryptocurrency.
