Verizon reportedly in talks to sell Yahoo Finance

People familiar with the matter claimed Verizon Communications Inc could be looking to sell Yahoo Finance.

Yahoo Finance is its headline business and financial news and data platform that has seen serious competition but still very much relevant in financial news cirles.

While Verizon has denied the rumour claiming it is a mere speculation, there are indications that it did held talks with buyers but could not comment because such matter are confidential.

Spokesperson for Verizon media told Reuters that:

“We do not comment on rumors and speculation,”

“Yahoo Finance is integral to Verizon Media’s growth strategy. We continue to invest in the expansion of live programming, audio programming and the recently launched Yahoo Finance Premium product.”

Yahoo Finance is still a compelling media asset to own for Verizon and it could command a fairly good price point if and when it is to it. According to web analytics software provider, Comscore said Yahoo Finance had a minimum of 100 million unique users monthly leading the likes of CNBC and Forbes.

Verizon has major media assets such as TechCrunch, Endgadget and HuffPost.
