Broadcom seeks to acquire Symantec


American microchip giant, Broadcom Inc said it looks to acquire Symantec, an Internet security and software company.

The deal is now estimated to cost Broadcom a transaction value of $15 billion.

People with the knowledge of the matter told the FT that no final commitment or agreement has been reached and there could be a formal announcement by July 4th.

Broadcom’s plan to acquire software assets is part of its ambition to boost its revenue after its planned the acquisition of its rival, Qualcomm was blocked by President Donald Trump over antitrust concerns.
