Global parcel delivery giant, FedEx Corp has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government that it cannot be held liable if it shipped products to companies under the US ban.
In its legal filings, FedEx said: “essentially deputize FedEx to police the contents of the millions of packages it ships daily even though doing so is a virtually impossible task, logistically, economically, and in many cases, legally.”
It could be recalled that the US had placed Huawei Technologies Co Ltd on its ‘Entity List’ a consequence that restricts American companies from doing business with Huawei with special approval from the White House.
In the heat of the matter, Huawei launched a formal complaint that FedEx rerouted its parcels meant for the United States back to China. While the delivery company has apologized, China said it wants more explanation from FedEx as to what happened.
FedEx said in its apology to Huawei said it made an “operational error” after PC Magazine, an American computer magazine, complained on Friday that FedEx refused to ship the phone.
However, China rejected the apology requesting for a proper explanation. A statement issued by China’s foreign ministry requested that FedEx Corp should offer a proper explanation on the incident that led to the package rerouting to China.
While Huawei said it has stopped using the services of FedEx and UPS, the company seems not to be convinced by the apology of the parcel delivery company. Huawei said in a tweet that ‘it was not within FedEx’s right to prevent the delivery and said the courier had a “vendetta.”
