Swiss financial regulator, FINMA, has confirmed that it is in contact with the initiators of Libra cryptocurrency.
Earlier today, Facebook unveiled its digital currency wallet.
According to a report by Reuters, FINMA refused to comment on whether it will approve the project to go ahead.
Facebook had floated Libra Networks in Geneva to midwife the virtual currency project.
