China’s Huawei Technologies Co Limited could be selling its smartphones carrying its self-made ‘Ark OS’ mobile operating system by October.
Famously called HongMeng, the Ark OS mobile operating system was Huawei’s replacement after Alphabet Inc’s Google said it will exempt Huawei devices from its Android OS updates.
According to a memo sighted by GSMArena who quoted Guo Mingxi, he revealed in the memo that ‘Huawei will be ready to push the smartphones in the Fall’
However, the OS will be unveiled in China first before it is released to the international market. GSMArena also reported that the OS will not be ship on Huawei’s flagship device, Mate 30, but would be shipped on its midrange and entry-level devices.
The new OS was reported to be 60% faster than Google’s Android. According to people with the knowledge of the matter, the OS was built by Tencent representatives and Oppo and vivo who have tested the new OS.
