China retaliates on Huawei ban with US tech export ban

As the US beats chest for hammering China’s Huawei Technologies Co Ltd with a ban, China is not taking it lightly and it about to take retaliatory measures against the US.

If the report by China’s Global Times newspaper is anything to go by then, there are signs that the trade war between the US could take a ‘turn for the worse’.

The editor of the Global Times said China is preparing to ‘curb’ technology exports to the US in retaliation to the ban imposed on Huawei.

Reuters News quoted Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Global Times who said that China “is building a management mechanism to protect China’s key technologies.”

“This is a major step to improve its system and also a move to counter U.S. crackdown. Once taking effect, some technology exports to the U.S. will be subject to the control,” he said.

While Hu’s statement is not the official position of Beijing, state-owned Xinhua news agency said in an article cited by Reuters News that the “National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) would organize a study to establish a “national technological security management list system.”
