Bharti Airtel’s local unit in Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria is said to have opened discussions on the possibilities of listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE.
People with the knowledge of the matter said the listing could be by introduction instead of an initial public offering, IPO.
If the news is true, Airtel could become the second mobile carrier to be listed on the NSE following MTN Nigeria’s plan to have its shares listed by way of introduction by mid year.
MTN is Nigeria’s largest mobile carrier with over 40% of the market share while Airtel and Globacom are second and third respectively.
We could not reach Airtel’s media team for a comment at the time of writing these report.
