Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy with the third largest air traffic in the continent said it has banned the use of Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft.
In a statement via Twitter by Bashir Ahmed, special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, he said:
“Nigeria joins other countries, bans the use of Boeing 737 Max 8 by any airline operator in the country, Aviation Minister,
@HadiSirika discloses that this afternoon, he says that such plane will not be allowed into Nigeria until the cause of the plane crash is determined.”
Boeing is yet to comment on the matter but it has issued a statement on the latest accident involving the aircraft operation by Ethiopian Airlines.
