Saint Gobain appoints Benoit Bazin as CFO

French building material giant, Saint Gobain said it has appointed Benoit Bazin as its Chief Operating Officer from January 1st, 2019.

Before his latest promotion, Mr. Benoit Bazin serves as President and Senior Vice President and Global President of The Construction Products Sector at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. Mr. Bazin served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Certainteed Corporation at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. since January 5, 2017 until January 19, 2017.

He served as Senior Vice-President of the Construction Products Sector at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain S.A. since 2010 and also served as General Delegate for Germany, Austria and Benelux. He served as President at Saint-Gobain Distribution Bâtiment France, SAS from April 1, 2009 to December, 2015.

Mr. Bazin served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Building Distribution Sector at Compagnie de Saint-Gobain since May 2005 until April 1, 2009 and since April 1, 2009 respectively. He began his career in 1995 with the Economy and Finance Ministry, as rapporteur to the Interministerial Committee on Industrial Restructuring, before moving to the Treasury Department where he was responsible for State investments in the aeronautics, electronics and defense industries.

He joined Saint-Gobain in 1999 as Corporate Planning Director for the Abrasives Branch, going on to become Corporate Planning Director for Compagnie de Saint-Gobain in September of the following year. In 2002, he was appointed President of the North-American Abrasives business and Head of the Bonded Abrasives business unit. He serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Saint-Gobain Distribution Bâtiment France, SAS. He served as an Independent Director of Essilor International SA since May 15, 2009 until March 27, 2017.

He served as a Director of BPB plc since December 7, 2005. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Grindwell Norton Ltd. since July 27, 2005 until March 6, 2006. Mr. Bazin is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees engineering school.

He also holds a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (United States) and an Advanced degree in Economics from IEP Paris.
