BRIEF: CMA CGM hikes charges as congestion cripples Lagos port

One of the largest shipping companies in the world, CMA CGM said it will be implementing surcharges for its operations at the Apapa Port in Lagos.

The Apapa Port is Nigeria’s largest port but bedeviled with congestion and inefficiencies aggravated by poor road networks surrounding the port.

CMA CGM said in a statement that: “congestion at Lagos ports, Nigeria, is currently increasing our operational costs and generating severe service disruption for several weeks.
