Stanchart appoints Richard Horrocks-Taylor to head mining unit

UK’s Standard Chartered Plc said it has appointed Richard Horrocks-Taylor to head its mining and metals business unit.

Horrocks-Taylor was most recently head of Royal Bank of Canada’s metals and mining division for Europe and Africa regions.

The bank said Horrocks-Taylor reports to Ananth Venkat, global head of the bank’s global industries group unit.

Horrocks-Taylor was a rugby union blue in his time at Oxford University, where he gained an BA in politics, philosophy and economics, or PPE. He played in the 1989 Varsity Match in a side that included current England rugby union attack coach Brian Smith.
