China’s conglomerate, HNA, said Chen Feng is now the group’s sole chairman after its co-chairman, Wang Jian died during a business trip in France earlier this week.
Wang, regarded as the architect of $50 billion acquisition spree, died on July 3 in what local police said appeared to be an accidental fall from a wall while posing for a photograph.
HNA said in a statement that the group’s board had decided that Chen would assume the duties of Wang. Adam Tan will continue to serve as chief executive officer.
Mr. Chen Feng serves as the President of Sanya Phoenix International Airport Ltd. Mr. Feng serves as the Chief Vice Director of Hainan General Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of China Traffic & Transportation System Enginee ring Society. He is a Senior Economist and is well experienced in the administration of aviation transportation, industrial investment, finance and trade.
He serves as the Chairman at Hainan Entrepreneurs Association. He has been the Chairman of HNA Group Co., Ltd. since 2000. He served as the Chairman of Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd. He is working with the planning department of CAAC and State Air Traffic Control Bureau long.
In April 2002, he was elected as the Representative of the 16th Party Congress. In December 2002, he was selected as the Commissioner of the 9th executive board of National Industry and Commerce Association. He has been a Director of HNA Group (International) Company Limited since October 2013. He served as a Director at Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd. In 1996, he was granted titles as the Most Outstanding Entrepreneurs of China, National Model Worker and received the May 1st Labor Medal.
In 1997, he was awarded the International Outstanding Entrepreneurs Contribution Prize by Sino-US Friendship Association and US Association of Medium & Small Enterprises. He served as Guest Professor of Research Institute of Chinese Aviation and Aerospace Ministry.
In 1998, he was invited as the Guest Professor of Renmin University of China, Northern Jiaotong University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and other universities. Mr. Feng graduated from Germany Lufthansa Airlines Air Traffic Management College in 1984 and majored in Administration. Later, he obtained the Master degree of Business Administration of Mattstricht School of Management, the Netherlands in 1995.
In 2002, he pursued the Advanced Studies of Senor Management from Harvard University.
