Kingsley Wheaton appointed Regional Director of BAT

Kingsley Wheaton, previously Managing Director, Next Generation Products has been appointed Regional Director, British American Tobacco Sub Saharan Africa, replacing Ricardo Oberlander.

 Ricardo Oberlander, currently Regional Director, Americas, will be appointed President and CEO of Reynolds American Inc. replacing Debra Crew, who has decided to leave BAT, with effect from 31 December 2017, to pursue other opportunities outside the company.

Kingsley has been with the BAT Group for 21 years and a member of the Management Board in a number of roles for six years. His previous experience as a general manager in Russia and a marketing director in Africa and other parts of the world and in building our fast growing NGP business over the last three years will be extremely beneficial in his new role in AMSSA.

Mr. Kingsley Wheaton has been Managing Director of Next Generation Products and Member of Management Board at British American Tobacco p.l.c. since January 1, 2015 and January 2012 respectively. Mr. Wheaton serves as the General Manager at CJSC British American Tobacco – SPb. He serves as Managing Director of British American Tobacco Holdings (Russia) B.V.

He served as Deputy Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Director at British American Tobacco (Zambia) Plc since January 2012 and also served as its Member of Management Board. He served as Director of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs of British American Tobacco plc since June 30, 2012, Deputy Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Director from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012.

He served as Managing Director at British American Tobacco plc until June 2010, Group Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Director until December 31, 2014 and Global Manager of Kent and Vogue Brands since June 2010. Mr. Wheaton served as Global Brand Director, responsible for Kent and Vogue. He joined Kent in 1996 and has held a number of roles in Marketing. He served as Marketing Director in Nigeria and Russia, before becoming General Manager in Russia, one of its most significant businesses.
