Leicester City owners sued for tax evasion by Thai Government

Owners of Leicester City Football Club Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his family, are reportedly being sued for GBP323 million over money owed to the Thai government in tax.

A criminal court in Bangkok accepted the case against King Power International on Monday, according to Reuters news agency.

The action against King Power owners had initially been filed in July, 2017.

The reporter further says that the case is also being brought against executives of state-owned Airports of Thailand (AOT.

King Power was founded in 1989 awarded its Thai duty-free monopoly in 2006.

The lawsuit accuses King Power of failing to pay the Thai government 14 billion baht (GBP323 million) from the operation of a duty-free franchise it was awarded in 2006.

At a hearing on Monday, the Central Criminal Court in Bangkok accepted the case and said it would now hear from witnesses in February next year.

Srivaddhanaprabha took over Leicester City in 2010 and has overseen promotion from League 1 to the Champions League as well as winning the Premier League in 2016
