Wim de Klerk, CEO of ArcelorMittal SA to step down next year

Wim de Klerk, the current chief executive of ArcelorMittal South Africa has notified the company that he will be stepping down in January next year.

Wim de Klerk has spent less than two years in the position.

Mr. Willem Abraham de Klerk, also known as Wim, BCom (Hons), CA(SA), TEP, EMP (Harvard), has been Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director at ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited since July 2016. Mr. de Klerk served as the Financial Director of Exxaro Resources Limited from March 1, 2009 to June 30, 2016.

Mr. de Klerk served as a Manager of International Activities at MORY SA. He served as an Executive Director of Exxaro Resources Limited from March 1, 2009 to June 30, 2016. He served as an Executive General Manager of Mineral Sands at Exxaro Resources Limited. He joined Iscor in 1996 and as a Member of the Executive Management Team, had a number of roles including responsibility for Strategy and Continuous Improvement and management of Grootegeluk Coal Mine. He has been Director at Tronox Australia Sands Pty Ltd. since August 2001.

He served as a Director of Tronox Limited from June 2012 to June 10, 2016. He served on various sub-committees of both the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Trade and Industry in South Africa. Mr. de Klerk holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Pretoria and a CTA at UNISA. He also attended the Executive Program at Darden University of Virginia.

He obtained a SMD from Harvard. Mr. de Klerk is a Qualified Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
