BW Offshore raises scam alert on fake recruitment scheme

BW Offshore, an oil engineering and servicing company has raised an alarm over recruitment scams that are being perpetrated using the company’s identity.

In a recent statement published on its website, BW Offshore said:

It has come to our attention that false job opportunities again are being offered in the name of several major oil and oil service companies. BW Offshore has also experienced similar recruitment scam before.

There have been several incidents where individuals/entities claiming to work for/on behalf of BW Offshore approach individuals with false job opportunities in the name of BW Offshore. The scam typically states that qualifications are compatible with some of BW Offshore’s job openings, and also includes application forms, job offers and required fees related for visa and insurance relocation. Documents appear to be on official letterhead containing the BW Offshore logo and signature. In some cases the scammer’s e-mail address even contains the word ‘bwoffshore’.

BW Offshore would like to highlight that

  • All vacancies in BW Offshore are published on our web page or through our dedicated manning offices
  • BW Offshore never asks for payment from job applicants during the recruitment process

BW Offshore will report attempts to job scam and efforts are being made to track the source, but methods used by fraudsters are constantly changing, and we urge you to be alert. If you have already received e-mails you suspect are fraudulent, we recommend you please call one of our offices.
