These are the most expensive summer destinations in Europe

The most expensive summer destinations in Europe has been revealed. According to findings, cliffside village of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, famous for attracting the rich and famous over the years, is the most expensive place to stay in Europe this summer, a recent survey says.

A survey by Cheaprooms compared accommodation prices in popular destinations across the continent during the month of August. For the purposes of the survey, the cheapest available double room during this period was used for comparison. Additionally, only hotels or inns with at least 3 stars and situated near to the beach or the centre were taken into account.

According to the survey results, visitors to Positano this August will have to pay an average rate of GBP256 per night for the cheapest available double room. The next most expensive destination is Oia, a small town located on the Greek island of Santorini, where holidaymakers can expect to pay a minimum of GBP221 for a night’s stay. Completing the podium is another exclusive destination, the chic town of St Tropez in the South of France, where the cheapest room is priced at GBP214.

Other notable destinations to appear in the survey’s findings are Edinburgh in tenth place, where visitors are likely to find rates no cheaper than GBP183 per night. However, this is primarily due to the fact that the Scottish capital plays host to a major festival, Edinburgh Fringe, throughout the month of August, which leads to accommodation prices soaring due to high demand.
