Danie Meintjes, Medclinic CEO to step down in 2018

Danie Meintjes, the chief executive of Mediclinic will be stepping down from the group by next year.

Confirming the resignation of Danie Meintjes, Chairman of the group, Edwin Hertzog said: “Danie has been instrumental to the development of Mediclinic and the implementation of our strategy over 20 years of service to the group.”

One Asset Management analyst, Shmuel Simpson told Reuters that: “Danie Meintjes’s retirement was unexpected. But while he is a very well respected operator and was instrumental in growing the business, the company as a whole is far greater than just one individual.”

Mr. Danie P. Meintjes, B.PI (Hons) has been the Chief Executive Officer of Mediclinic International plc (formerly, Mediclinic International Limited; a/k/a, Medi-Clinic Corp. Ltd.) since April 1, 2010. Mr. Meintjes joined Mediclinic International Limited (a/k/a, Medi-Clinic Corporation Ltd) in 1985 and has been its Executive Director since 1996.

He served as Chief Executive Officer of Medi-Clinic Middle East at Medi-Clinic Corp. Ltd., since 2007. He served as Human Resources Director of Medi-Clinic Corporation Ltd., until May 2006. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Spire Healthcare Group Plc since August 20, 2015.

He holds a Bachelor of Personnel Leadership from the University of the Free State (South Africa) and has also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
