Nurettin Canikli loses post as Turkey deputy prime minister

Nurettin Canikli has been removed from his position as the country’s deputy prime minister, according to reports from Turkey.

Canikli assumed office since 24 May 2016, and he formerly served as the Minister of Customs and Trade of Turkey from 2014 to 2015. He is a Member of Parliament for Giresun of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

The Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım announced a reshuffle in the cabinet following an unscheduled meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara, according to hurriyetdailynews.

According to the cabinet revision, Deputy Prime Ministers were named as Bekir Bozdağ, Mehmet Şimşek, Bekir Bozdağ, Fikri Işık, Recep Akdağ and Hakan Çavuşoğlu.

The new list of ministers includes;

Justice Minister: Abdülhamit Gül, replacing Bekir Bozdağ

Family Minister: Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya

EU Minister: Ömer Çelik

Foreign Minister: Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

Defense Minister: Nurettin Canikli

Economy Minister: Nihat Zeybekci

Culture Minister: Numan Kurtulmuş, replacing Nabi Avcı

Sports Minister: Osman Aşkın Bak, replacing Çağatay Kılıç

Labor Minister: Jülide Sarıeroğlu, replacing Mehmet Müezzinoğlu

Education Minister: İsmet Yılmaz
