Lafarge Africa appoints Edith Onwuchekwa as acting secretary

Lafarge Africa Plc has approved the appointment of Mrs. Edith Onwuchekwa as Acting Company Secretary

Her appointment comes to effect from 14th June 2017 pending the appointment of a substantive Company Secretary, following the Board’s approval of the resignation of Ms. Uzoma Uja as Company Secretary.

Mrs. Edith Onwuchekwa serves as Country General Counsel and Legal & Public Affairs Director of Lafarge Africa Plc. Mrs. Onwuchekwa served as Legal Adviser and Secretary of Lafarge Africa Plc (formerly, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc) since June 1, 2008 and 2008 respectively. She joined Lafarge Africa Plc in April 2005.

She served as Legal Counsel of Sub-Saharan Africa at Lafarge Regional Office in Cairo Egypt since January 2011. Prior to joining Lafarge, she took up various Positions in Nigerian German Chemicals Plc and Jolimair Nigeria Limited as Legal/HR Manager and Company Secretary/Head of Administration respectively. After her National Youth Service in Nigeria, she was actively engaged in legal practice as Head of Chambers and Barrister and Solicitor in reputable law firms in Nigeria.

She serves as Vice Chairman and Non Executive Director of AshakaCem PLC. She is a graduate of Law 1997 (LLB), was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999 (BL) with second class upper honours and is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
