John Flannery to replace Jeff Immelt as CEO of GE

As Jeff Immelt prepares to step down at GE, the company has named John Flannery has been named the next Chief Executive Officer of GE.

GE said in a statement to its investors that John Flannery will resume effectively from August 1, 2017. John will succeed Jeff Immelt as Chairman when he retires from the Company on December 31, 2017.

The company said the announcement is the culmination of a succession planning process that has been underway for several years.

GE said its board is excited about John’s appointment and think you will be too. Today’s news positions GE for continued success as the world’s leading digital industrial company. John fits all the criteria our Board had set for the next CEO of the Company.

He is a strong and courageous leader who can make tough decisions while inspiring his teammates. He has extensive experience across a range of disciplines at GE, including leading complex financial and industrial businesses all over the world. He ran GE in India, the business development team during the successful acquisition of Alstom and the turnaround of GE Healthcare.

GE is one of the largest industrial technology company with interest in aviation, healthcare, oil and gas, transportation and printing.
