Ron Webb is the Director of Financial Services. Ron joined Safaricom Ltd on August 8, 2016, and is responsible for conceptualizing, creating and growing the company’s growing mobile payments ecosystem to ensure market leadership, all while meeting customer requirements.
He is responsible for ensuring optimal financial performance of the Financial Services Division by assuring credit quality, managing business development opportunities, ensuring regulatory compliance and mitigating potential risk.
Prior to Safaricom, Ron was a high level executive at Equity Bank where he was the leader of the newly created directorate of payments within the bank, responsible for driving innovation in the payments space. He joined Equity from the Paynet/PesaPoint Group where he was Group Technology Officer for 18 years.
Born in Zimbabwe, Mr. Webb has thirty years of experience in the fast-evolving African payments space, having implemented systems and strategy for technologies ranging from the cheque to mobile across a number of markets.
