Nkululeko Sowazi, Non-executive Director, Tiso Blackstar

Nkululeko Sowazi is the Non-executive Director of Tiso Blackstar, he is also the Chairman of KTH, a leading South African Investment holding company with significant interests in the media, financial services and resources sectors.

KTH was formed in July 2011 following the merger of two leading black owned investment firms, KTI and Tiso Group with combined gross assets of R15 billion. Nkululeko was the Executive Chairman and co-founder of Tiso Group which was formed in 2001 and grew to a multi-billion rand investment company by the time the merger was concluded.

He is currently a non-executive director of the JSE listed companies Grindrod Limited and Litha Healthcare Group Limited. He serves as a non-executive director of Actom Holdings Proprietary Limited and Idwala Industrial Holdings Proprietary Limited. Nkululeko also serves on a number of not for profit organizations.

He is a founder trustee of Tiso Foundation, Chairman of the Homeloan Guarantee Company and Housing for HIV Foundation based in Washington D.C. He serves on the board of governors of Michaelhouse College and is a World Fellow of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International award. He holds a BA degree in economics and a MA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
