Jonathan Girling and Cesar Marva quit GlaxoSmithKline

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc said Mr. Jonathan Girling and Mr. Cesar Marva two former formerly non-executive directors, have left the company.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc said their resignation was with effect from 8th March 2017 respectively.

The company also announced the appointment of Mr. Olaleye Peter Dada, formerly Assistant Company Secretary, with effect from March 8, 2017 The Board appointed Mr. Bhushan Akshikar as non – executive Director of the company effective 9th March 2017.

Mr. Bhushan Akshikar is currently the General Manager of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited. He started his career with MSD, India in 1992 as a Medical Representative/District Manager. In 2006, he joined Janssen Cilag, India as the Product Manager. Since then he has held several increasing management roles.

He served in various roles such as Group Product Manager, Gastroenterology, Marketing Manager, Oncology Franchise, Marketing Support Manager-Nephrology, Regional Sales Manager and Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Supply Chain within the same company. In 201 1, he joined GSK India as Executive Vice President leading the mass business (Primary care, Rural team and Dermatology) vertical and the respiratory business of GSK India to deliver over £1 20m in annual sales revenue.
In January 2017, Mr. Bhushan was appointed General Manager, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited.

Mr. Bhushan Akshikar holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Poona, India and an MBA from S.P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai, India. The Board is confident that with his vast experience in Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain, Mr. Akshikar would bring to his role as a non-executive director, the requisite skills and expertise currently required by the Board of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria plc.
