Kamal Bhattacharya, the CEO of iHub Kenya is leaving the tech innovation hub for a similar entity yet to be launched by Safaricom.
iHub was formerly called IBM Research – Africa lab, the 12th IBM Research lab, missioned to address key challenges of the African continent through commercially viable innovation that impact people’s lives.
Prior to moving to Africa, he held various leadership positions at IBM Research in the US and India.Dr. Bhattacharya’s technical expertise covers a wide range of topics in the area of Services research including business process management, cloud computing and enterprise social computing.
Dr. Bhattacharya has been the recipient of multiple IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement awards and best paper awards at international computer science conferences for his contributions to Services research and is an elected member of the IBM Academy of Technology. He started his career at IBM after graduating with a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Göttingen University, Germany.
