In a disclosure released today, Access Bank PLC said Blakeney GP and Stanbic Nominees Nigeria Limited are the majority owners of its entire shareholding.
The disclosure was contained in its audited annual result released earlier today. The two institutional investors are by regulatory rule majority owners of the bank has they own more than 5% of the total issued shares of the bank.
As at last year Blakeney GP held 1,969,087,968 shares of the bank which represented 6.80% of the bank’s total.
However, its current holding increased from 1,763,244,933 shares which represented 6.08% of the total shares it held as at the end of 2015.
Also Stanbic Nominees Nigeria Limited, an institutional investor and a member of the Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC owns the largest shares in the bank with 4,622,161,946 shares representing 16.00% of the total shares of the bank.
The trend is also similar to that of Blakeney GP. Stanbic Nominees Nigeria Limited used to have a total of 4,283,583,626 shares representing 14.79% of the total shares of the bank as at 2015.
Registered as Blakeney Management, the company is one of the oldest and largest institutional investors in Africa and the Middle East. According to its website, the company is based in London and have been managing funds since 1995 for some of the largest institutions in the world.
Blakeney Management said it invest in listed and private companies. Blakeney has played a major role in the development of stock markets in Africa and the Middle East and holds significant stakes in many of the leading companies in both regions.
Stanbic Nominees Nigeria Limited is a fully-owned subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings. Other companies within the group are:
