Former FIFA and CAF Executive member, Dr. Amos Adamu has confirmed his retirement from football administration and has also declared Issa Hayatou as his choice for CAF presidency.
Dr Adamu in a chat with Brila fm on Sports Machine, stated that he was innocent of all allegations leveled against him and believes he was being witch-haunted by a mafia in FIFA.
He was recently banned for two years by world football governing body FIFA for ethics violation after serving a three year ban and fine of 10,000 Swiss franc fine from FIFA Ethics Committee after being found guilty of breaching bribery rules in 2010.
When asked if he would return to football later, Adamu said, ‘ I’m done with football and its politics. My calling is different now, I’ve been taking theological classes.’
‘I look at what Nigeria stands to gain and I believe Hayatou will benefit us as the case has been always,’ – Adamu said on the candidature of Issa Hayatou as his preferred president and why Nigerians should rally round him.
He further stated that Hayatou has done a lot for Nigeria and always been there when we needed help in CAF, ‘He’s my choice any day. he said.’ ‘My ban is as a politically motivated, the handiwork of a mafia. FIFA have sworn never to trust Nigeria.
Adamu mentioned that he would not campaign against Beninoise Anjorin Moucharafou who is Amaju Pinnick’s opponent in the CAF executive committee election but wishes the Nigerian football federation president the best.

Meanwhile Dr Amos Adamu also chipped in that Issa Hayatou had vowed he’d handover the reigns of CAF to him.
