Since admission as an attorney in 1980 Bulelani has held senior positions in various law firms. He has also been involved in a number of committees and was elected to the Senate as Chief Whip of the ANC in 1994.
In 1997 he was elected as Deputy Chairman of the National Council of Provinces. Bulelani was also the former National Director of Public Prosecutions. Previously the Executive Chairman of Amabubesi Investments (Proprietary) Limited, he co-founded Vuwa Investments (Proprietary) Limited in 2006.
Bulelani currently serves on the Boards of various public and other companies.
