Lufthansa German Airlines said it will rather suspend all flights to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital instead of flying to Kaduna.
The airline made the statement on the heels of the planned closure of the Abuja Airport for six weeks.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian aviation ministry had announced that airport will be closed in order to repair its runways. The alternative airport in the Kaduna International Airport.
Spokeswoman for Lufthansa German Airlines AG Mirjam Eberts told Bloomberg that the airline will not divert flights to the Kaduna airport but suspend all flights to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. She however, did not provide any reason for the company’s decision.
British Airways, Turkish Airlines, KLM and other European carriers have not informed the media nor their passengers on their decisions.
