Sliide Airtime today announced that it has been shortlisted in the most prestigious telecom awards in the world.
This recognition cements Sliide’s position as the most innovative, effective and useful app available in Africa today. The GSMA’s Global Mobile (Glomo) Awards recognise those companies and individuals that are driving innovation in the rapidly evolving mobile industry.
They are judged by world-leading independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile operator representatives and hotly contested every year by operators and vendors from across the globe.
Sliide has been shortlisted in the Most Innovative Mobile App category alongside these companies:
· drupe mobile for drupe
· Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited for Jio4GVoice
· Telefónica Investigación y Desarrollo for Drivies
· Turkcell for UpCall
Winners of the awards will be presented at the Mobile World Congress, which takes place 27 February – 2 March in Barcelona.
The full list of nominees can be found at www.globalmobileawards.com/nominees2017.
Last year at the AppsAfrica Innovation awards held during AfricaCom in Cape Town, Sliide Airtime won the prestigious title of Best African App beating off competition from over 200 submissions from 25 countries.
It was also named as the Most Effective Consumer Smartphone App at the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards, “Mobile Marketing Company of the Year” at the annual Nigerian Telecom Awards and Game-Changing Innovation category at the West Africa Com Awards.
Sliide Airtime launched Africa’s first lock screen content and mobile advertising delivery platform in Nigeria in March 2016. The app provides users with a new way of accessing content from their mobile devices, while simultaneously earning free airtime. After entering information about their interests, users receive personalised content as soon as they wake their phone, including news and entertainment handpicked from local and international media sources as well as branded and sponsored content.
Sliide Airtime provides advertisers and content providers with a new and unique platform to reach consumers through their mobile. Furthermore, Sliide Airtime enables mobile network operators to benefit from shared advertising revenues, as well as increased user engagement and time spent online.
Corbyn Munnik, CEO and founder of Sliide Airtime, said: “To even been shortlisted by the GSMA is a real honour for myself and the whole team. It’s great that all our hard work has been recognised but we have a lot more to achieve as we expand and scale up.”
The Sliide Airtime Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or directly from http://www.sliideairtime.ng. Sliide Airtime has partnered with a variety of organisations to deliver branded content, including Google, Facebook’s Audience Network, and Twinpine, the largest mobile advertising network in Africa and part of Africa’s leading digital media business, Terragon Group.
The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting nearly 800 operators with almost 300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers and internet companies, as well as organisations in adjacent industry sectors. The GSMA also produces industry-leading events such as Mobile World Congress, Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Mobile World Congress Americas and the Mobile 360 Series of conferences.
Sliide Airtime is a privately held technology company with offices in Lagos and London. Its content delivery platform is changing the way people interact with their phones by subsidising their airtime.
The team brings years of experience in the mobile, software, and advertising industries, along with a company-wide entrepreneurial spirit.
