TRECC has partnered Seedstars World to reward participants in the Rural distribution idea competition for entrepreneurs in emerging markets to a tune of USD 1,000.
Despite the world being a global village, the challenge faced by youths in African rural setting cannot be overemphasized. Hence, the rural distribution idea contest is a contest where youths and entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to present their various unique solutions to the economic, cultural, geographical and language barriers faced in the rural areas through quality education and also provide ideas on how to catalyze learning for children and adult faced in such areas.
If you are an African entrepreneur, you can participate to win the US$1,000 prize.
The challenge is looking specifically for ideas in the following areas:
- Help established education companies and entrepreneurs expand to rural markets, where there is limited electricity, internet, and quick transportation options.
- Improve education delivery systems and access to learning through technology or new distribution models.
- Spark demand for quality education and education-focused goods and services in rural communities.
TRECC (Transforming education in cocoa communities) is a ininiative powered by The Jacobs Foundation which has committed CHF 50 million to change this situation by implementing a comprehensive strategy to transform education, empower women, and ensure child protection in cocoa-growing communities in Ivory Coast.
“Rural distribution challenges often limit access to quality education for the communities that need it most, further exacerbating social inequalities. We want to better understand how education systems – as well as education entrepreneurs – can leverage existing distribution networks or create socially responsible distribution networks to ensure these communities have access to not only quality education, but other goods and service that can improve the quality of life,” Seedstars stated in a press release.
The challenge is open to entrepreneurs from across Africa and they can submit their ideas here before 1st Februrary, 2017. The winner will be announced on February 10, 2017 and will be awarded a prize money of US$1,000.
