Wilfred Ndidi

Premier League champions Leicester we understand have agreed a deal worth  £15 million for the Super Eagles defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for a move from Belgian club Genk to fill the gap left by the influential N’Golo Kante.

The Nigerian international will be officially unveiled as one of the foxes once his permit is granted.

“Leicester City can today confirm that an agreement has been reached with KRC Genk for the permanent transfer of Wilfred Ndidi,”- Leicester confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

That Ndidi would be a potential replacement for Ngolo Kante might be true as many have suspected. However, the question is if Ndidi can fill the shoes Kante left behind after joining current table-toppers, Chelsea which has seen the foxes miss his absence.

Kante was instrumental to the foxes’ title challenge last season and his absence is quite obvious in Claudio Ranieri’s team. He has been a fit for his new side at Stamford bridge and potentially looks set for another Premier league title.

Ndidi would be required to bring on his mental and and physical doggedness to play while fielding for the Kingpower side. Plus, he needs to adapts as fast as possible to the style of play in England.

Ndidi who is now 20-year old has represented Nigeria at  Junior level (Under-17 and Under-20 ) and earned his first senior call-up in October 2015.
