President Joseph Kabila of Congo agrees to step down

President Joseph Kabila has announced that he will be stepping down next year.

This all important decision was reached after series of negotiations brokered by the Catholic Church.

Part of the deal is that political prisoners will be released and those in exiles will be allowed to return to the country.

The deal will allow the opposition to appoint two candidates for the position of prime minister while Joseph Kabila will be given the slot to appoint one other candidate for the same position.

The deal is expected to be adhered to but some quarters of the opposition are doubting the sincerity of President Joseph Kabila to stick to the agreement.
