Joana Bannerman holds a BSc. (Hons) in Agriculture (Economics Major) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana.
She is an astute banker with vast working experience in the financial services industry. Joana began her career in 1991 at the Women’s World Bank as Project Officer and thereafter worked with the US Peace Corps. In 1993, she joined the Agricultural Development Bank as an Officer in the Foreign Operations Department, where she was part of a pioneering team that established the Western Union Money Transfer Service in Ghana. She later served in several Management positions at the Bank including Head of Commercial Credit at the Gulf House Branch and Branch Manager at the Dansoman Branch where she managed key customer accounts.
Joana Bannerman was later recruited by the Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana in 2006 as Head of Foreign Operations Unit. During her tenure, she also became the Group Head for Commercial Banking & Trade Finance.
Joana Bannerman a graduate of the Harvard Business School programme on Authentic Leadership, is a results oriented team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills. She is also an alumni of The Wharton School programme on people management and Operational efficiency at University of Pennsylvania.
