Governor Mimiko Promises to Pay Protesting Footballers

Ondo State governor Dr, Olusegun Mimiko of has promised to pay two Months Salaries of protesting players of Sunshine Queens football club.

The Governor gave the assurance while addressing the players who staged a peaceful protest today at the Governor’s office in Alagbaka Akure over the non payment of seven month salaries and match bonuses which they said it has negatively affected their standard of living.

Dr Olusegun Mimiko attributed the non-payment of their entitlement to the economic Recession the country is experiencing.

Our sports correspondent Isaac Afolabi report that earlier, Ondo state commissioner for Sports Mr Dayo Awude while appealing to the protesting players asked them to return to their hostel assuring them of the payment of all outstanding allowances before the week runs out.

The players however agreed to promise made by the Governor and moved to the Ondo State Football agency waiting to receive stipend that will sustain them ahead of the expected payment of two months salaries
