Ondo State Volleyball (Sunshine Spikers) team have emerged champions of this year’s Legacy Volleyball tournament in Lagos State.

The one week event which brought many volleyball teams across the country was held at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.

Expressing his delight in a telephone conversation with our sports correspondent Isaac Afolabi, Ondo State volleyball coach Mr Adeniyi Adekalu said the team will improve on its tactics and compete in more national and international tournaments to improve their skills.

Captain of the team Daniel Nathaniel while praising the efforts of the team advocate more competitions to keep volleyball players in the country in form for international tournaments.

Ondo state basketball team scooped all the individual awards at the tournament. They include best striker, most valuable team of the competition and best behaved team.

The competition sponsored by Legacy volleyball Club through the Lagos State Volleyball Association, is borne out of the aim of Lagos to raise two teams (male and female) that will be ready for any competition at a short notice.

This competition was organised among prominent volleyball states and clubs in the country with the main objective of discovering talent, and more importantly enhancing the preparation of Lagos State Volleyball team ahead of the forthcoming National Sports Festival in November this year.

Registered Male Teams: Team Legacy VBC, Team Sunshine Spikers, Team Unity VBC, Team Ikorodu VBC, Team Offa VBC Kwara, Team Hit Squad OJO and Team Arsenal VBC.

Registered Female Teams: Team Super babes VBC, Team Legacy VBC, Team Hit squad VBC, Team Off VBC ,Team Queen Spikers VBC and Team BGY VBC.
