Daniel Salter, Equity Strategy, Renaissance Capital

Daniel Salter leads Renaissance Capital’s equity strategy research in frontier and emerging markets. He has two decades of investment experience on both the buy- and sell-sides.

A graduate of Oxford University, Daniel was a portfolio manager in the emerging markets team at Deutsche Asset Management, investing in frontier and emerging markets across EMEA, just as many of the region’s equity markets were opening up to international investors.

Daniel Salter then spent ten years based in Moscow, initially heading up ABN AMRO’s Russian equity business, before being appointed by ING to lead up their Russian & CIS research (where he was involved in numerous IPOs) and to head their EM strategy team, followed by a similar role at UniCredit. Daniel joined Renaissance Capital in 2013, and is based in London.

His recent work includes launching coverage of new markets such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Iran as well as managing the firm’s Emerging and Frontier Alpha conviction lists and developing a macro-framework for asset allocation within Emerging Markets and Frontier.
