Tunde Ayeni, Former Skye Bank Chairman Arrested by EFCC

This is coming in as a breaking news from Sahararepoters. Tunde Ayeni, the embattled former Chairman of Skye Bank has been arrested by the EFCC.

According to Sahara Reporters, he was arrested over alledged fraud investigations linked to the former Minister of the federal Capital territory, Bala Mohammed.

PageOne.ng cannot confirm the authenticity of the information. However, Tunde Ayeni has been facing tough times after he was booted out of the bank by the CBN in July over the precarious nature of the bank’s financial health.

Bogged down by over-concentration of toxic borrowing tied to Tunde Ayeni’s ventures and those of his associate, Skye Bank was on the brink of collapse before the CBN stepped in by replacing all the board of directors with a new board.

Skye Bank has still not recovered from itse stressed position, but the new management are taking steps to cut down the bank’s losses by disposing assets that it cannot manage to shore up the bank’s asset and capital base.

The management has also decided to sell off its stake in oversea branches, dump an international banking license for a national banking status that will ease the tension of keeping up with a higher capital adequacy ratio,

The following few days would unravel what becomes of the former high-flying Chairman of Skye Bank. A man who soar to one of the highest corporate position in one of Nigeria’s largest commercial banks.
