Amanda Jean-Baptiste says “I love the challenges of my job – knowing that persistence pays off, meeting interesting entrepreneurs and seeing the tangible impact of what we do; communities change as a result of our investments.”
Amanda worked on a number of South African transactions in her earlier job with Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners and was excited by the opportunities in real estate and by the idea of pioneer investing in a place with strong fundamentals.
When Amanda joined Actis in 2010, after ten years at Lehman, it was partly due to its long history in growth markets, but also because she had repeatedly come across Actis and knew that its real estate developments were the best in Africa. At Actis, Amanda focuses on portfolio management, debt finance, and transaction execution of West African developments.
Having spent some time here now, she is still struck by Actis’ long-term commitment to its markets, and its unique method of using capital to do good, while also generating strong returns for its investors.
