With over 30 years experience in international business expansion with telecoms and technology start-ups, Richard Lewis can spot and realise business opportunities from continents away.
Following an early career in accountancy, in 1984 Richard engaged in the sunrise micro-computer industry, specialising in selling computerised accounting solutions for IBM, Apple and others. With an eye for growth potential, Richard nurtured a start-up business in the telecoms Customer Care & Billing space from inception in 1989 until it flourished as one of the world’s largest providers of CCBS to mobile operators.
By concentrating on start-up African operators, the company’s revenues were augmented from £3m to £20m in just four years before the company was acquired in 2001 by a large quoted company.
Richard’s has considerable experience and successes in a range of senior positions in both IT and telecoms software companies and in 2009 he joined Business Logic Systems as Chief Sales Officer for the Africa/Middle East region. From a ‘ground zero’ position in Africa, the company now has clients in every region of the continent including Vodafone, Etisalat & Zain operating companies.
Richard relocated to Johannesburg from the UK in 2013 but his roots remain at Old Trafford where he was born. Naturally, he is a long time Manchester United fan (45 years!). As a father to six ranging from 9 years to 23 years old, his children tend to keep him busy outside of work.
