Jacobs Ajekigbe, Chairman, Keystone Bank

Mr. Jacobs Ajekigbe served as the MD/CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Plc from 2002 to 2008, during which he deployed his people’s management skills, technological and innovative skills to position First Bank as the foremost Nigerian bank in terms of shareholders’ funds in 2007.

Mr. Ajekigbe had over three decades experience in banking that cut across agricultural financing, branch banking, corporate banking, retail and consumer banking and general management. Between 1993 and 2000, Mr. Ajekigbe served as the Deputy Manager and subsequently Branch Manager of the UK Branch of First Bank.

Mr. Ajekigbe holds the B.Sc. degree in Agricultural Economics (University of Ibadan, 1975), Certificate in Investment Planning and Appraisal of the University of Bradford, UK (1981) and the Master of Business Administration degree of the university of Lagos.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Leadership Initiative, Mr. Ajekigbe had previously led the Board of Directors of Kakawa Discount House Limited and FBN Merchant Bankers Limited, and had also sat on the boards of FBN Bank (UK) Limited, First Pension Custodian Limited, Zain Nigeria, and Transnational Corporation Nigeria Plc.

Mr. Ajekigbe is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School programmes on “Making Corporate Boards More Effective” and “Leadership Best Practices”.
