Mary Akpobome is the Executive Director, Service Bank, with responsibility for all strategic support functions – Information Technology, Customer Experience and Analytics, Business Services, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Services, General Asset Management and Program Management Groups. Her passionate commitment to relentless stake-raising in experiential, top-of-the-mind service excellence and innovation continues to spur the tenacious value behind the Heritage Bank Brand.
Before this role, she was appointed the Acting Managing Director of Enterprise Bank Limited following its acquisition. Her solid experience in the management of people and resources was instrumental in stabilizing the operations of the bank, improving its service orientation and preparing it for a seamless combination with Heritage Banking Company Limited.
In 2009, Mary was part of the Executive Team of the core investor that acquired the former Societie Generale Bank. Her strategic foresight, unrelenting commitment, and competencies were fundamental to the successful emergence and market entry of Heritage Bank into the Nigerian financial services space.
Mary Akpobome, a seasoned banker with over 24 years cognate experience began her banking career with Citizens International Bank serving in different departments before joining Platinum Bank Ltd in 2001 and rose to the position of Executive Director Designate in 2008 overseeing the Service Bank of Bank PHB.
She holds an MBA from the University of Lagos and a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. She is an Alumnus of Lagos Business School, INSEAD (France), IMD (Switzerland) and a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators, Institute of Directors, and a member of the CIBN.
