nairabox Ships Improved Features, Gains More Users


nairabox a mobile digital wallet app has just shipped new features on its app. The new sets of features are designed to position the app ahead of its competition.

In a statement released to PageOne Startup Desk, the company said the revamped nairabox app, users “access to enjoy life to the fullest”. Users can now link multiple debit cards “they you can now have a complete mobile wallet on your mobile device”.

On the top line, the new nairabox app will allow users to:

  • Buy digital tickets to the cinema and live events
  • Buy airtime for yourself and any contact on your phone
  • Transfer digital tickets to your friends
  • Make bill payments for utility and Internet services
  • Send money to other nairabox users and phone contacts
  • Make donations to charities to support their cause
  • Make in-store payments at participating retail stores and save
  • You can also use Airtime Auto-Recharge to automatically buy airtime for yourself or any of your contacts
  • Express Pay allows you make automated bill payments for recurring charges, like DSTV and Internet Services Subscriptions.

The company revealed to PageOne that its referral campaign garnered over 20,000 downloads of the app within three days of launch.

nairabox was is owned by three co-founders, Damilola Jegede, Jay Chikezie and Tokunbo Adetona in 2015. Within the first six months nairabox focused on allowing users to pay for movie tickets, meals at restaurants,pay for bills, buy airtime, pay for events and cinemas tickets, donate and more. The startup has since gone further to ship new features when it upgraded the app into a mobile wallet.

Latest features are directed at expanding its relevance and providing more value to its growing customers.

In exclusive interview with PageOne in June, nairabox revealed that they are funded by equity investors because they had a “good product and long term plan”.
